Smithtown Building Closed

Due to the storm that occurred during the early morning hours of August 19, which caused torrential flooding, our Smithtown Building suffered catastrophic damage to its lower level. Therefore, until further notice, our Smithtown Building will be closed while we continue to assess the damage and begin to rebuild.  Our other three buildings remain open to assist our patrons. Holiday Closing

In observance of Thanksgiving, the Library will be closed Thursday, November 28.  We will reopen on Friday, November 29 at 9:30am.  

Senior Citizen ID Card

Senior Citizen Identification

In partnership with the Suffolk County Office of the Aging the Library distributes Senior Citizen ID Cards free of charge.  ID Cards will be available at our the Circulation Desk at our Smithtown Building only. Until further notice, cards will be available at our Nesconset Building.

Anyone residing in Suffolk County over the age of 60 is eligible to receive a card. Senior ID Cards entitle you to:

  • discounts on bus fares
  • discounts on ferries to Fire Island
  • discounts with participating businesses and townships.

Senior ID Cards have fillable fields for your signature, emergency contacts and medical information.
