Smithtown Building Closed

Due to the storm that occurred during the early morning hours of August 19, which caused torrential flooding, our Smithtown Building suffered catastrophic damage to its lower level. Therefore, until further notice, our Smithtown Building will be closed while we continue to assess the damage and begin to rebuild.  Our other three buildings remain open to assist our patrons. Our General Membership Meetings are held to conduct business that relates to the membership-at-large and to provide an opportunity for people who are interested in the library to establish a closer relationship. 2024 Friends of the Smithtown Library Scholarship

The Friends of The Smithtown Library recognizes the role and contribution of libraries in the lives of young people. For this reason, the Friends wish to offer scholarships to graduating high school students from the Smithtown area so that they may continue to access informational material as they pursue a degree from an institution of higher learning. Winners will be selected by the Friends of The Smithtown Library and all decisions will be final. A $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to the candidate whose application and essay best exemplify a desire to maintain a lifetime relationship with libraries. A $750 scholarship will be awarded to the first runner-up.  The scholarships will be awarded the first night of our Summer Concert Series. Scholarship deadline is May 17, 2024.
