Smithtown Building Closed

Due to the storm that occurred during the early morning hours of August 19, which caused torrential flooding, our Smithtown Building suffered catastrophic damage to its lower level. Therefore, until further notice, our Smithtown Building will be closed while we continue to assess the damage and begin to rebuild.  Our other three buildings remain open to assist our patrons.  Review:

Sol was the god that created the world. From the dust, the mountains grew. From the tears, the rivers flowed. From the water, the earth grew. And from earth, the new god Tierra formed. Sol and Tierra were lonely, so they decided to create some children. That's how the Golds, Jades, and Obsidians formed. Then Sol put their heart into the ground to be closer to their children, and somehow, humans were born. The Obsidians wanted the humans to worship them, and they did not want to take care of the humans because the Obsidians were selfish gods, so Sol killed themself to lock the Obsidians into the celestial objects, and turned into the sun. The rest of Sol’s body turned into stones, and the gods kept them in their temples to keep their land, Reino del Sol, safe from the Obsidians, as long as the stones stayed lit.

Every decade, the sun stones have to be replenished, so Sol can keep the Obsidian gods up in the sky. For the Sunbearer Trials, Sol chooses ten most worthy semidioses to compete. Whoever wins is the Sunbearer, and whoever loses has to be killed, and their blood replenishes the stones. Teo is a Jade semidios, and isn't worried about being chosen for the trials. But his best friend Niya, is a Gold, and has a good chance of being chosen, so he feels scared that she might be sacrificed. But for the first time in over a century, Jades have been chosen to compete. The Jades were Teo and Xio, the thirteen-year-old son of the god of bad luck. They have to compete in the trials with the Golds that have trained for this their entire lives. Teo wants to get himself and his friends through the trials safely, so they don’t have to be the sacrifice.

I would recommend this book to anyone that likes adventure and fantasy novels. It is a great story with lots of suspense and imagery. Once you start reading this book, you won’t want to put it down because each chapter makes you think “what's going to happen next?” The author made a nice, imaginative story, and if you like stories that take place in unreal worlds, then you will really enjoy this book.
