Smithtown Building Closed

Due to the storm that occurred during the early morning hours of August 19, which caused torrential flooding, our Smithtown Building suffered catastrophic damage to its lower level. Therefore, until further notice, our Smithtown Building will be closed while we continue to assess the damage and begin to rebuild.  Our other three buildings remain open to assist our patrons. Holiday Closing

In observance of Thanksgiving, the Library will be closed Thursday, November 28.  We will reopen on Friday, November 29 at 9:30am.

Program Description

Event Details

Join the Long Island Museum and the Smithtown Library for a collaborative exhibition tour and book discussion. This program will start with an educator-led walk through the Long Island Museum’s spring art exhibit, The Power of Two: Artist Couples of Long Island. The tour will then be followed by a librarian-led discussion of the book, Foursome: Alfred Stieglitz, Georgia O’Keeffe, Paul Strand, Rebecca Salsbury by Carolyn Burke. The program is free, but registration through the Library is required.  Books will be available at the Circulation Desk of the Library’s Smithtown Building starting on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.  Please note: This program will be held on the grounds of the Long Island Museum, located at 1200 Route 25A in Stony Brook, New York, 11790, starting in the Art Museum.
