Smithtown Building Closed

Due to the storm that occurred during the early morning hours of August 19, which caused torrential flooding, our Smithtown Building suffered catastrophic damage to its lower level. Therefore, until further notice, our Smithtown Building will be closed while we continue to assess the damage and begin to rebuild.  Our other three buildings remain open to assist our patrons. Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a celebration of Chinese Brushwork Painting. In just two hours you will learn the basic marks, how to use rice paper, Chinese brushes and ink.  As you paint, you will enjoy demonstrations and hear about the history of this ancient art form and how it branched off into Sumi-e painting. The demonstration covers painting bamboo, stems, leaves and blossoms. The second hour is devoted to creating an original piece of Chinese brushwork to bring home. Ink stains, dress appropriately.
