Smithtown Building Closed

Due to the storm that occurred during the early morning hours of August 19, which caused torrential flooding, our Smithtown Building suffered catastrophic damage to its lower level. Therefore, until further notice, our Smithtown Building will be closed while we continue to assess the damage and begin to rebuild.  Our other three buildings remain open to assist our patrons. Holiday Closing

In observance of Labor Day, the Library will be closed Monday, September 2.  We will reopen on Tuesday, September 3 at 9:30am.

Gifts and Memorials

For many years, The Smithtown Library has accepted gifts and donations as memorials for the deceased, as well as to honor those who are still living.

Individual patrons and organizations have used this service by donating money to purchase a book in honor of retirements, birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. Patrons have also used the service to place a book in memory of friends or relatives that have passed on.

Donating money to purchase books and other items as memorials or gifts is very appropriate as they can be used over and over thus benefiting numerous people in the community.

When your gift or memorial contribution is received, an acknowledgment card will be sent to the family of the person memorialized or to the person you have chosen to honor and recognize.

Library staff will carefully select materials and a book plate will be placed in the front of each book indicating to whom the book is dedicated.

Persons interested in giving a gift or donation to the library should contact the Administration Office at (631) 360-2480, ext. 295.
