Voting Absentee

Registered voters who reside in the Smithtown Special Library District may apply to vote by absentee ballot.

The Smithtown Library has its own absentee voter application available at the Reference Desks at all four of our Library buildings.

We do not accept the Suffolk County Board of Elections absentee form and we will not accept reproductions or copies of the Library's absentee ballot application.

You must indicate on the application whether you would like to receive your ballot in person, designate someone to pick it up for you or have your ballot mailed. Absentee ballots can only be picked up at the Nesconset Building between 9:30am and 5:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Absentee applications returned by mail to the Nesconset Building must be postmarked no later than the seventh day before the vote (October 5th).

AFTER October 5th, applications MUST be hand delivered to the Nesconset Building between 9:30am and 5:00pm, Monday-Friday and will be accepted up to and including 5:00pm on Friday, October 8, 2021 (the last business day before the vote).

No absentee ballot will be given after 5:00pm on Friday, October 8.

Once the official ballot is ready, all eligible applicants will receive their ballot as indicated on their application. The deadline for all ballots to be returned is 5:00pm on the day of the election.
