3D Printers at The Smithtown Library

 

Thank you to the Friends of The Smithtown Library for donating 3D Printers to each of our Library buildings.  Patrons can submit requests to have a designed printed.  These requests are reviewed to ensure they comply with the Library's policy, then sent to the requested pick-up location for printing.

Kings Park Building Teen Programs

Junior LEGO® Buddies Volunteers
Wednesday, January 10 • 4:00-5:00pm
Be paired with a younger child and help him/her with their LEGO® creation. Each teen will receive one hour of community service. Register

Hot Chocolate Lookalike Cookies and Cupcakes
Wednesday, January 10 • 7:00-8:00 pm
Put a new twist on a cup of hot chocolate and make two chocolate cookies and one cupcake that resemble everyone’s favorite winter drink, hot chocolate. (This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies). Register

Game Buddies Volunteers
Wednesday, January 24 • 4:00-5:00 pm
Earn community service by playing fun board games with a younger child. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating. Register

Science Buddies Volunteers
Saturday, January 27 • 10:00-11:00 am
Join this innovative program which pairs teens and children to work with simple, but awesome projects that explore science, engineering and math. Teens receive an hour of community service for participating. Register

Art Buddies Volunteers
Monday, January 29 • 4:00-5:00 pm
Enjoy earning community service by spending an afternoon paired with a younger child for some art projects. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating. Register

Heart Shaped Pizza
Tuesday, February 6 • 5:00-6:00 pm
Celebrate Valentine's Day by creating your own, personal heart shaped pizza. Each teen will receive one pizza to take home and bake. Please inform staff of any food allergies prior to the program. Register

Homework Helpers
Wednesday, February 7 • 4:00-5:00 pm
Wednesday, February 21 • 4:00-5:00 pm
Volunteers in grades 9-12 will work one-on-one with children in grades K-5 assisting them with homework and studying. All volunteers must submit an application and a letter of recommendation prior to the start of the program. The application is available at both the Adult and Children's Reference Desks of the Smithtown Kings Park Building. There will be a mandatory training session for all those participating in this program. Register

Recycle Station

The Smithtown Library collects un-needed eyeglasses for recycling through the Suffolk Cooperative Library System's services for the sight-impaired.  glasses
The Library is no longer accepting cell phones for recycling.
