Kings Park Building Teen Programs

  Registration requirements for all programs are listed in the description of each program. Teen Services programs are open to those in grades 6-12 (up to age 18) unless otherwise noted.
Registration for January programs begins on Monday, December 12.
Registration for December programs began on Monday, November 14.
When registering online, please indicate name and grade in the note field.

January Programs

Robot Buddies Volunteers
K-Monday, January 9 • 4:00-5:00pm
Help a younger child code robots. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.
 
Winter Snow Globes
K-Wednesday, January 11 • 7:00-8:00pm
Create a wintry snow globe to celebrate the season.
 
Book Buddies Volunteers
K-Tuesday, January 17 • 4:00-5:00pm
Read to a younger book buddy. It is a rewarding experience that you won't want to miss. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.
 
Bookmark Volunteers
K-Thursday, January 19 • 4:00-5:00pm
Teen volunteers are needed to design and make bookmarks. Bookmarks will be sent to patrons who are enjoying The Smithtown Library's Homebound Mail Service. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating.
 
Craft Buddies Volunteers
K-Thursday, October 26 • 4:00-5:00pm
Spend an afternoon paired with a younger child for some craft projects. We will be using art materials; please dress appropriately. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.
 

December Programs

Teen Take and Make- Ugly Sweater Cookies
Smithtown Building
Kings Park Building

Bake and decorate a batch of ugly holiday sweater cookies! Pick up your kit at the Smithtown or Kings Park buildings beginning December 5. A prerecorded instructional video will be included with your kit. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 

Lego Buddies Volunteers
K-Thursday, December 1 • 4:00-5:00pm
Be paired with a younger child and help them with a LEGO® creation.
 
Winter Wooden Sign
K-Saturday, December 10 • 3:00-4:00pm
Decorate for the season and paint a “Let It Snow” wooden sign for your door.
 
Book Buddies Volunteers

Snowy Science Buddies Volunteers

Work on snow-themed science experiments with an elementary school child.

Use sweet ingredients to make cake cones that resemble snow people. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.
