Registration requirements for all programs are listed in the description of each program. Teen Services programs are open to those in grades 6-12 (up to age 18) unless otherwise noted.
Registration for July programs begins on Monday, June 14. Registration for July Pop Up programs begins on Monday, June 21.

Summer Shrinky Dinks
C- Monday, July 12 • 4:30-5:30pm
Summer time means that good vibes are everywhere. Join us as we make shrinky dinks that remind us of our favorite season.
 
Science Saturday
K- Saturday, July 17 • 2:00-3:00pm
Conduct experiments that are too messy to do in science class. This program will be held outside and will be weather permitting. Dress to make a mess.
 
Tie Dye Baseball Caps
K- Monday, June 19 • 3:00-4:00pm
What is more summer than tie dye? Join us as we decorate baseball caps. This program will be held outside and will be weather permitting.
 
Harry Potter Ceramic Owls
S- Tuesday, July 20 • 4:30-5:30pm
Every Harry Potter fan knows the most useful pet to bring to Hogwarts is an owl. Paint a beautiful ceramic owl in your favorite Hogwarts house colors.
 
Pineapple Wall Art
N- Wednesday, July 21 • 4:30-5:30pm
Using geometric shapes and pops of color, we will create a pineapple art piece that is perfect for any room.
 
Tie Dye Party
N- Wedesday, July 28 • 3:00-4:00pm
Soak up the summer sunshine and join us for a tie dye party. We will tie dye aprons just in time for the barbeque season.

Commack Building
Add some fun flair to your locker or refrigerator with these clay magnets. Kits will be available at the Commack Building beginning July 1 and must be picked up by July 31. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.

Kings Park Building
Create a colorful work of art with simple strips of paper. Kits will be available at the Kings Park Building beginning July 1 and must be picked up by July 31. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Teen Take and Make- Ice Cream Pom Pom Garland
Nesconset Building
A sweet treat to decorate your home for summer. Kits will be available at the Nesconset Building beginning July 1 and must be picked up by July 31. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Teen Take and Make – Batter Up Book Boxes
Nesconset Building
Step up to the plate and enjoy a box filled with baseball themed crafts, prizes and a Mike Lupica novel to keep. Kits will be available at the Nesconset Building beginning July 1 and must be picked up by July 31. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Teen Take and Make- Faux Stained Glass Art
Smithtown Building
Create your very own stained glass masterpiece. Kits will be available at the Smithtown Building beginning July 1 and must be picked up before July 31. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Teen Take and Bake- Chocolate Covered Oreos
All Buildings
Take home all of the ingredients needed to make these classic treats that everyone will love! Kits will be available at all buildings beginning July 1 and must be picked up by July 31. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. In person or telephone registration required. Please inform staff which building you would like to pick up your supplies from at registration. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Battle of the Books
Thursdays, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, August 5 & 12 • 3:30-5:00pm
The Battle of the Books is a county-wide competition for teens who wish to represent their public library. The competition will take place virtually on Saturday, August 14. Teams will answer trivia questions based on six different books and score points for their team with each correct answer. To be eligible to participate, you must be entering grades 6-9; be able to attend meetings and be ready for a summer of reading fun. Registration required. This program will be available on Zoom. Jackbox Game Day
Wednesday, July 7 • 3:30-4:30pm
Join your Teen Librarians for a fun afternoon of virtual party games. Draw funny doodles, write the best inside joke or answer hilarious trivia questions. There's something for everyone. Introduction to Dungeons and Dragons

Join us for a virtual introduction to this classic roleplaying game! Perfect for players of all skill levels, this campaign will introduce you to the game and its rules while you play. Henna for Teens
Tuesday, July 13 · 7:00-8:00pm
Create your own beautiful henna tattoos while learning about this traditional art form. Henna tattoos are not permanent, but will last for a few weeks so please make sure you are prepared for this commitment. Kits will be available at the Nesconset Building on July 12 beginning at 1:00pm.Registration required. Name That Tune

Graphic Novel Book Crew

Join in the fun as we host our summer Teen Book Club. We will read the graphic novel, Ms. Marvel Volume 1, No Normal and meet on Zoom to discuss the book together. Pick up your book crew box from the Smithtown Building beginning July 1. Your box will include a library copy of the graphic novel as well as book inspired swag. Registration required. Dumbledore’s Army Paint Night
Tuesday, July 27 · 7:00-8:00pm
Put down your wands and pick up your paint brushes. Join Ms. Cecchini as we paint the Deathly Hallows symbol. Don’t forget to wear your Hogwarts house gear! Learn to Draw Parrots

Chinese Take-Out Cupcakes

Your favorite take-out, in the form of cupcakes! Pick up your pre-made cupcake kit from the Nesconset or Commack Building on Thursday, July 29 from 2:00-9:00pm or Friday, July 30 from 9:30am-3:00pm. We will meet on Zoom to create our cupcakes together. Registration required. This program will be available on Zoom. Teen Take and Make- Relax & Unwind Coloring Kits
Commack Building
You may be taking exams but that doesn’t mean you need to be stressed! Take home a kit with coloring pages and pencils that will help you relax as you ace your exams. Kits will be available at the Commack Building beginning June 1 and must be picked up by June 30. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Teen Take and Make- Tissue Paper Canvas Art
Nesconset Building
Colorful, chic and simple. Create a masterpiece using tissue paper and mod podge. Kits will be available at the Nesconset Building beginning June 1 and must be picked up by June 30. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Teen Take and Make-Ceramic Tile Art
Kings Park Building
Decorate tiles that can be used as art pieces. Participants will need their own supply of rubbing alcohol. Kits will be available at the Kings Park Building beginning June 1 and must be picked up by June 30. In person or telephone registration is required. DIY Mindfulness Jar
Monday, June 7 • 4:00pm
Join Ms. Brand to learn how to make a calming mindfulness jar. No registration required. Join Cornell Cooperative Extension in this virtual course designed to help teens develop the skills necessary for the responsibility of being a sitter—child safety, developmental stages of children and how to plan activities that are age appropriate.
