Nesconset Building Teen Programs
In-person, online and telephone registration for all May programs began on Monday, April 8.
Registration for June programs begins on May 13.
Registration is required unless otherwise noted.
Programs that require fees can be paid by credit card, cash, check or money order to The Smithtown Library.
Program fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Teen programs are open to those in grades 6-12 unless otherwise noted.
Chess and Checkers Buddies Volunteers
Thursday, May 2 • 6:15-7:15pm
Teach younger children how to play chess. You do not have to be a chess expert to volunteer but knowledge of the rules is required.

Teen volunteers are needed to assist collecting and sorting donations as well as helping to maintain the Friends of The Smithtown Library book sale. Please register for one session only.
Games and Goodies

Join in with friends to play some board games such as Munchkin, Apples to Apples, Boss Monster and more. Enjoy snacks and beverages as we go head to head in some friendly gaming competition. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.
Battle of the Books Informational Meeting

Are you a teen entering grades 6-9? Do you like trivia and reading? Have you ever heard of Battle of the Books and wondered what the fuss is all about? At this informational meeting, we will release the eight titles featured in this year's competition and discuss the ins and outs of what Battle is all about. Weekly meetings will begin in June to prepare for the final battle at Stony Brook University on Saturday, August 10.
Stamp it Out

Create a sensational stationary set using cards, stamps and scrapbooking materials. Everyone will go home with an 8 card set.
Blooming Spring Banner

Deco Doily Art

Using paint and stencils, create a four piece canvas set that will hang together to create a unified picture.

Teen volunteers are needed to design and make bookmarks. Bookmarks will be sent to patrons who are enjoying The Smithtown Library's Homebound Mail Service.
Cards for Hospitalized Kids

Cards for Hospitalized Kids is an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy and magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards. Come make cards to brighten up a child's day.
Battle of the Books
Mondays, June 17, 24 • 3:30-5:00pm
The Battle of the Books is a county-wide competition for young adults who wish to represent their public library. The competition will take place on Saturday, August 10 at Stony Brook University. Teams will answer trivia questions based on eight different books and score points for their team with each correct answer. To be eligible to participate, you must be entering grades 6-9; you must be able to attend meetings and must be ready for a summer of reading fun.

Beads, buttons, bookmarks, and more. We will be creating jewelry and bookmarks with galaxy inspired beads.
Getting Ready to Babysit
Wednesday, June 26 • 4:30-7:30pm
This course is designed to help tweens and teens develop the skills necessary for the responsibility of being a sitter - child safety, developmental stages of childhood and how to plan activities that are age appropriate. Hands-on activities and course certification are included.
DIY Clothespin Photo Frame

Kick off the summer by creating a unique photo frame to hang your warmest memories to come.
Saturday, June 29 • 3:00-4:30pm
This summer will be out of this world. Teens will welcome the warm weather with games, a movie, video games and crafts.
