Kings Park Building Teen Programs

In-person, online and telephone registration for all March programs began on Monday, February 11.
Registration for April programs begins on Monday, March 11.
Registration is required unless otherwise noted.
Programs that require fees can be paid by credit card, cash, check or money order to The Smithtown Library.
Program fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Teen programs are open to those in grades 6-12 unless otherwise noted.


Game Buddies Volunteers
Thursday, March 7 • 4:00-5:00pm
Earn community service by playing fun board games with a younger child.

Homework Helpers

Volunteers in grades 9-12 will work one-on-one with children in grades K-5 assisting them with homework and studying. All volunteers must submit an application and a letter of recommendation prior to the start of the program. You must register for each date you wish to volunteer after submitting an application.

Cards for Troops Volunteers
Monday, March 11 • 4:00-5:00pm
Help write and decorate cards for our troops serving overseas.

Teen Game Night
Wednesday, March 13 • 7:00-8:00pm
Come enjoy a fun night of gaming, pizza and snacks.

Escape the Room
Wednesday, March 20 • 7:00-8:00pm
Work with other teens to solve puzzles, unlock keys and find hidden objects in order to escape the room in an hour or less. Do you have what it takes?

Book Buddies Volunteers
Thursday, March 21 • 4:00-5:00pm 
Read to a younger book buddy. It is a rewarding experience that you won't want to miss. Each teen will receive one hour of community service.

Art Buddies Volunteers
Monday, March 25 • 4:00-5:00pm
Enjoy earning community service by spending an afternoon paired with a younger child for some art projects. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating. We will be using art materials, please dress appropriately.

SAT Review
Wednesdays, April 3, 10, 17, May 1 • 6:30-8:30pm
Over 2 million students will be taking the SATs this year; if you’re one of them, how prepared are you? This indispensable 4-week course will be led by long time SAT instructors. Includes study materials. FEE: $88 per person.

Science Buddies Volunteers
Tuesday, April 9 • 4:00-5:00pm
Join this innovative program which pairs teens and children together to work with simple, but awesome projects that explore science, engineering and math. Teens receive an hour of community service for participating.

Chopped: Teen Edition
Saturday, April 13 • 2:30-3:30pm
Teen chefs will compete as a team to make super creative meals. Rounds consist of an appetizer and a dessert using mystery ingredients. Prizes will be given out to the Chopped Champions. Please note that there is no cooking during this program. This program may not be suitable for patrons with food allergies.

Art Buddies Volunteers

Spend an afternoon paired with a younger child for some art projects. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating. We will be using art materials, please dress appropriately.

Junior LEGO® Buddies Volunteers
Tuesday, April 23 • 2:30-3:30pm
Be paired with a younger child and help him/her with their LEGO® creation. Each teen will receive one hour of community service.

Cat Toy Volunteers
Wednesday, April 24 • 7:00-8:00pm
April is the ASPCA's Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month. Celebrate by putting together cat toys that will be donated to the local animal shelter. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating.
