Teen Programs

Registration requirements for all programs are listed in the description of each program. Teen Services programs are open to those in grades 6-12 unless otherwise noted.
Registration for February programs begins on Monday, January 11. Registration for January programs began on Monday, December 14.

Teen Take and Make-Wanderlust Wall Art
Commack Building
Create your own wanderlust wall art with maps. Make it as colorful or classic as you want; the sky’s the limit! Kits will be available at the Commack Building starting February 1 and must be picked up by February 27. In person or telephone registration required. Celebrate Valentine’s Day by painting ceramic hearts. Kits will be available at the

Teen Take and Make- Winter Puzzle Wreath
Nesconset Building
Create a winter wonderland wreath for your door or home decor. Kits will be available at the Nesconset Building starting February 1 and must be picked up by February 27. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Teen Take and Make- Among Us Felt Keychains
Smithtown Building
Use a needle and thread to sew your very own Among Us crewmate keychain. Kits will be available at the Smithtown Building starting February 1 and must be picked up before February 27. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Duct Tape Roses
Friday, February 5 • 4:30pm
Learn how create roses out of duct tape just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Tie Dye Heart Cookies
Tuesday, February 9 · 7:00-8:00pm
Groovy cookie kits for Valentine’s Day. Pick up your pre-made cookie kit from the Nesconset or Commack Building on Monday, February 8 from 2:00-8:00pm or Tuesday, February 9 from 9:30am-6:00pm. We will meet on Zoom to create our cookies together. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. Registration is required. This program will be available on Zoom. Intermediate Dungeons and Dragons
Thursday, February 11 • 6:00 -8:00pm
Join us for a virtual adventure! This campaign is designed for experienced players with an understanding of the basic game rules. Registration required. This program will be available on Zoom. Macramé with Maggie

Join Maggie as she shows you how to make a simple macramé knot. Learn the basics and create a colorful bracelet you can wear or give as a gift. Hot Chocolate Bombs

Join Ms. Cecchini as she shows you how to create a cool new way to make hot chocolate. Teens will get a kit with everything they need to make hot chocolate bombs. Let’s stay cozy and get crafty. Create a custom shadow box with your initial. When registering please indicate what initial you would like on your craft. Chill Out and Read: Teen Winter Reading Program
Winter Reading is here to warm these chilly months! Beginning December 21 through February 19, teens in grades 6-12 can sign up online using the READsquared App for winter reading. More information coming soon about our reading missions and grand prizes.
 
Teen Scene Book Boxes
Try out the Library's new personalized book boxes! Each box contains two YA novels hand-picked just for you, along with other literary swag. Register and receive an email with a form to personalize your book box. A teen librarian will customize your box to your liking and schedule a time for pick up. Teen Take and Make–DIY Initial Mug
Commack
Create your own personal mug with your initial or a loved one’s initial and give it as a gift! When registering please inform staff what initial you would like on your mug. Kits will be available at the Commack Building starting January 2 and must be picked up by January 30. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis. Since each kit will be customized, please be aware that it may take a few days after registration for your kit to be available for pickup.
 
Teen Take and Make–Paw Print Wall Hanging
Kings Park
Celebrate your furry friend by decorating a wall hanging in their honor. Kits will be available at the Kings Park Building starting January 2 and must be picked up by January 30. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Teen Take and Make-Geometric Cork Coasters
Smithtown
Create a colorful set of coasters using paint, masking tape and cork. Kits will be available at the Smithtown Building starting January 2 and must be picked up by January 30. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.

Nesconset

DIY Watercolor Prints

Learn how to make watercolor art featuring your favorite quotes using just markers and water.
