Smithtown Building Teen Programs

  Registration requirements for all programs are listed in the description of each program. Teen Services programs are open to those in grades 6-12 (up to age 18) unless otherwise noted.
Registration for December programs begins on Monday, November 8
Registration for November programs began on Tuesday, October 12.

December Programs

Take and Makes
Teen Take and Make- Gingerbread House Ornaments
Smithtown Building
Create an adorable ornament using a flower pot and paint. Kits will be available at the Smithtown Building beginning December 1 and must be picked up by December 30. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.

Mini Hot Chocolate Cookie Cups
Wednesday, December 15 • 7:00-8:00pm
Join the Baking Coach as we use marshmallows, candy canes and more to create miniature cups of hot chocolate. Pick up your ingredients kit from the Smithtown or Kings Park Building on Monday, December 13 from 4:00-9:00pm or Tuesday, December 14 from 9:30am-9:00pm. We will meet on Zoom to make the cupcakes together. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. Registration required. Login information for Zoom will be sent to the email address associated with your Library card the day before the event.
 
Winter Marshmallow Snowman Cupcakes
Wednesday, December 29 • 6:00-7:00pm
Grab a cup of hot cocoa and join the Baking Coach on Zoom to make delicious marshmallow cupcakes. Pick up your ingredients kit from the Smithtown or Kings Park Building on Tuesday, December 28 from 9:30am-9:00pm or Wednesday, December 29 from 9:30am until the time of the program. We will meet on Zoom to make the cupcakes together. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. Registration required. Bookmark Volunteers
S-Tuesday, December 7 • 4:30-5:30pm
Teen volunteers are needed to design and make bookmarks. Bookmarks will be sent to patrons who are enjoying The Smithtown Library's Homebound Mail Service.
 
Mason Jar Snow Globes
S-Wednesday, December 8 • 7:00-8:00pm
Create a beautiful snow globe using a mason jar, pom poms and fake snow.
 
Craft Kits for Kids Volunteers

Assist our Children’s Department by assembling craft kits for kids. Please register for one session.
 
Dungeons and Dragons
S-Tuesday, December 14 • 6:00-8:00pm
Join us for a round of this classic role-playing game! Perfect for players of all skill levels, this campaign will introduce you to the game and its rules while you play. Dice and snacks will be provided.
 
Rockin' New Year Volunteers
S-Thursday, December 30 • 10:45am-12:45pm
Help the Children’s Department ring in 2022 at the Library! Teen will assist younger children celebrate with crafts and games as we countdown to noon and welcome the New Year!

Smithtown Building
Satisfy your crafting appetite by creating this pumpkin and apple pie garland out of felt. Kits will be available at the Smithtown Building beginning November 1 and must be picked up by November 30. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Take and Bake-Batman Sugar Cookies
All Buildings
You don’t need the Bat-Signal to see how awesome these cookies are! Kits will be available at any Smithtown Library Building beginning October 18. In person or telephone registration only. Please inform staff which building you would like to pick up your supplies at time of registration. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.

Nintendo Gaming Hour
S-Saturday, November 6 • 12:00-1:00pm
Put your Mario Kart skills to the test by competing with your friends to see who will be the champion. Please note: patrons must have a Nintendo Switch in order to join the program.
