Teen Services programs are open to those in grades 6-12 (up to age 18) unless otherwise noted.

SEptember Programs

Bookmark Volunteers
N- Friday, Septmber 9 • 4:30-5:30pm
Teen volunteers are needed to design and make bookmarks. Bookmarks will be sent to patrons who are enjoying The Smithtown Library's Homebound Mail Service. Each teen will receive one hour of community service.
 
Shrinky Dink Flair
N- Thursday, September 15 • 7:00-8:00pm
Join us as we make our own wearable pop-culture shrinky-dink art.
 
Bagels and Books
N- Saturday, September 17 • 12:00-1:00pm
Join us as we chew and chat about what we are reading this school year. We will highlight some of the new books in our teen collection and help choose new materials for the year. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.
 
Take and Bake Dog Treats
N- Tuesday, September 20 • 4:30-5:30pm
Help feed our furry friends at the Smithtown Animal Shelter. We will prepare all ingredients for dog treats and you will take them home to bake. Return them to the Library within two days and earn two hours of community service. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.
 
Monogram Coasters
N- Thursday, September 29 • 7:00-8:00pm
Create customized ceramic coasters with your initials. Please indicate the initial you would like to use when registering.
 

AUGUST Programs

Infusible Drink Koozie
N- Tuesday, August 2 • 7:00-8:30pm
Join creative Cricut® instructor Amy, as she helps you design and print koozies to enjoy this summer.
 
Jam Out Guitar Basics
N- Thursday, August 4 • 6:30-8:00pm
Rock out with Adam King as he shows you basic chords and fundamentals of playing guitar.

Candy Sushi

Learn how to make tasty candy sushi with a variety of confectionaries. Take home your creation in a sushi box to enjoy and share. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.
 
Library Buddies Volunteers
N- Wednesday, August 10 • 6:15-7:15pm
Earn community service by being paired with a young child to assist him/her with reading and an art project.
 
Peace Day Project

Flip Flop Planter

Get creative and decorate a summer themed planter with seeds to take home.
 
Game Squad Volunteers

Put on your game face and team up and play our younger patrons in supersized games and the Nintendo Switch®.
 
Teen Gaming Guild
N- Saturday, August 20 • 2:30-4:00pm
Games galore! Come to the library to play video games, card games and board games. Meet new friends and enjoy snacks in a fun gaming environment. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.
 
Sew and Tell
N- Tuesday, August 23 • 4:00-5:00pm
Learn the basics of sewing while enjoying snacks and books with fellow teens. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.
 
Chess and Checkers Buddies Volunteers
N- Wednesday, August 24 • 6:45-7:45pm
Teach younger children how to play chess and checkers. You do not have to be an expert to volunteer but knowledge of the rules is required.
