Nesconset Building Teen Programs

  Registration requirements for all programs are listed in the description of each program. Teen Services programs are open to those in grades 6-12 (up to age 18) unless otherwise noted.
Registration for December programs begins on Monday, November 8
Registration for November programs began on Tuesday, October 12.
When registering online, please indicate name and grade in the note field.
 

DECEMBER Programs

Take and Makes
Teen Take and Make- Recipe Box
Nesconset Building
Design and decorate a recipe box to store all your family's best kept recipes. Kits will be available at the Nesconset Building beginning December 1 and must be picked up by December 30. In person or telephone registration only. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Teen Take and Make-Gingerbread Houses
Nesconset and Commack Buildings
Join in the fun as you create your very own gingerbread house using a variety of candies and icings. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. Kits will be available at the Nesconset and Commack Buildings beginning December 9 and must be picked up by December 30. In person or telephone registration only. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.

Kindness Cards Volunteers

Help brighten someone's day by volunteering to handmake greeting cards for people in your community.
 
Book Sale Room Volunteers
N- Wednesday, December 8 · 7:00-8:00pm
Teen volunteers are needed to assist collecting and sorting donations as well as helping to maintain the Friends of The Smithtown Library Book Sale.
 
Snowy Snowman Sign
N-Saturday, December 18 · 2:30-3:30pm
We will have snow much fun decorating a sign perfect for the winter season.
 
Community Wash Kits
N- Tuesday, December 21 • 7:00-8:00pm
Help your community by making wash kits to donate to local shelters.
 
Letter Tile Ornaments
N-Wednesday, December 22 · 5:30-6:30pm
Join in the festive fun as we make winter inspired ornaments.
 
Game On
N-Tuesday, December 28 · 11:30am-12:30pm
Join in with friends to play the Nintendo Switch, giant Connect Four and board game classics. Enjoy time at the Library as we go head-to-head in some friendly gaming competition.
 
Chess and Checkers Buddies Volunteers
N- Tuesday, December 28 • 5:00-6:00pm
Teach younger children how to play chess and checkers. You do not have to be an expert to volunteer but knowledge of the rules is required.
 
Library Buddies Volunteers
N- Wednesday, December 29 • 10:45-11:45am
Earn community service by being paired with a young child to assist him/her with reading and an art project.

November Programs

Take and Makes
Teen Take and Make- Leaf Bowl
Nesconset Building
A decorative bowl for the crisp fall air. Kits will be available at the Nesconset Building beginning November 1 and must be picked up by November 30. In person or telephone registration is required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Take and Bake-Batman Sugar Cookies
All Buildings
You don’t need the Bat-Signal to see how awesome these cookies are! Kits will be available at any Smithtown Library Building beginning October 18. In person or telephone registration only. Please inform staff which building you would like to pick up your supplies at time of registration. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.

Among Us Craft and Play
N-Friday, November 5 · 4:00-5:30pm
Join us for a fun afternoon of teamwork and imposters. We will also be crafting our favorite among us characters. A smartphone or tablet with the Among Us app is required to participate.
 
Cards for Hospitalized Kids
N-Monday, November 8 · 4:30-5:30pm
Spread hope, joy and magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards.  Each teen will earn one hour of community service.
 
Pressed Flower Pumpkins
N-Saturday, November 13 · 2:00-3:00pm
Create a beautiful autumnal pumpkin, perfect for the season.
 
Bookmark Volunteers
N-Wednesday, November 17 · 4:30-5:30pm
Teen volunteers are needed to design and make bookmarks. Bookmarks will be sent to patrons who are enjoying The Smithtown Library's Homebound Mail Service. Each teen will earn one hour of community service.
 
Mystery Crafternoon
N-Friday, November 19 · 4:30-5:30pm
What could it be? It's a mystery! Join in the fun as we craft and create surprise projects.
 
Turkey Time Tray
N-Monday, November 22 · 4:15-5:15pm
Gobble up some craft time and make a decorative tray perfect for Thanksgiving.
 
Craft Kits for Kindness
N-Tuesday, November 30 • 4:30-5:30pm
Teen volunteers will be cutting and putting together craft kits to give to our local senior center. Each teen will earn one hour of community service.
