Teen Services programs are open to those in grades 6-12 (up to age 18) unless otherwise noted.
Registration for January programs begins on Monday, December 12
Registration for December programs began on Monday, November 14.

January Programs

Take and Make
Teen Take and Make - Among Us Cookie Creations
These cookies are SUS. Grab a kit filled with ingredients to make tasty Among Us cookies. Supplies can be picked up at the Nesconset Building beginning January 6 and must be picked up before January 27. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.

Bookmark Volunteers
N- Tuesday, January 10 • 7:00-8:00pm
Teen volunteers are needed to design and make bookmarks. Bookmarks will be sent to patrons who are enjoying The Smithtown Library's Homebound Mail Service. Each teen will receive one hour of community service.
 
Seed Sorting Volunteers
N- Thursday, January 12 • 7:15-8:15pm
Help the Library prepare for our upcoming seed program by assisting with sorting and labeling seeds into packets. Each teen will receive one hour of community service.
 
DIY Block Letters
N- Saturday, December 14 • 2:30-3:30pm
Create the word READ using blocks of wood, paint and simple design elements.
 
Snowflake Soap
N- Thursday, December 19 • 7:00-8:00pm
Bring the winter indoors this season with a DIY winter snowflake soap.
 
Winter Yarn Gnomes
N- Saturday, January 21 • 2:30-3:30pm
Create your own festive winter gnomes out of yarn.
 
Take and Bake Dog Treats
N- Wednesday, January 25 • 4:30-5:15pm
Help feed our furry friends at the Smithtown Animal Shelter. We will prepare all ingredients for dog treats at the Library and you will take them home to bake. Return them to the Library within two days and earn two hours of community service. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.
 
Craft Kits for Kindness
N- Tuesday, January 31 • 4:30-5:30pm
Teen volunteers will be cutting and putting together craft kits to give to our local senior center. Each teen will receive one hour of community service.

December Programs

Take and Make
Teen Take and Make - Gingerbread House
Nesconset and Commack Buildings
Join in the fun as you create your very own gingerbread house using a variety of candies and icings. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. Kits will be available at the Commack and Nesconset Buildings beginning December 7 and must be picked up by December 29. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.

Winter Wishes Banner
N- Saturday, December 3 • 2:30-3:30pm
Welcome winter with a DIY canvas banner perfect for the chilly days.
 
Gingerbread House Ornaments
N- Wednesday, December 7 • 7:00-8:00pm
Using flower pots, creativity and paint, we will design gingerbread house ornaments for the winter season.
 
Notes and Totes
N- Thursday, December 8 • 7:00-8:00pm
Let's decorate note cards and tote bags for patrons in local group homes to use when they visit the Library. Each teen will receive one hour of community service.

Teen Sketch and Stretch

Sketch and Stretch offers a unique program that combines art and yoga for teens. The program begins with yoga for focus and is followed by an art lesson. Each participant will leave with a completed mini canvas painting. Yoga mats will be provided.
 
Game Squad Volunteers
N- Thursday, December 29 • 2:45-3:45pm
Put on your game face and team up and play our younger patrons in supersized games and the Nintendo Switch®. Each teen will receive one hour of community service.
 
Teen Gaming Guild
N- Thursday, December 29 • 7:00-8:30pm
Games galore! Come to the Library to play video games, card games and board games. Meet new friends and enjoy snacks in a fun gaming environment. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.
 
Indoor Double Dutch
N- Friday, December 30 • 1:30-2:30pm
Join 2-Time American Double Dutch League World Champion, Erica Dantzler, as she shows you the ropes. Sneakers are recommended for this program.
