  Registration requirements for all programs are listed in the description of each program. Teen Services programs are open to those in grades 6-12 (up to age 18) unless otherwise noted.

Take and Makes
Teen Take and Make-Wooden Beach Sign
Smithtown Building
Kings Park Building

Calling all beach lovers! Create a beautiful wooden sign to display your love of the sun and sand. Kits will be available at the Kings Park and Smithtown buildings beginning June 1 and must be picked up by June 30. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.

Game Buddies Volunteers
K-Monday, June 13 • 4:00-5:00pm
Play fun board games with a younger child. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating.
 
Battle of the Books
K-Thursdays, June 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28, August 4 & 11 • 3:30-5:00pm
The Battle of the Books is a county-wide competition for young adults who wish to represent their public library. The competition will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Teams will answer trivia questions based on six different books and score points for their team with each correct answer. To be eligible to participate, you must be entering grades 6-9; you must be able to attend meetings and must be ready for a summer of reading fun.
 
Book Buddies Volunteers
K-Tuesday, June 28 • 3:00-4:00pm
Read to a younger book buddy. It is a rewarding experience that you won't want to miss. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.
 
Retro Game Night
K-Wednesday, June 29 • 7:00-8:00pm
Kick in old school with a night of retro video and board games. Pizza and snacks will be provided.

Take and Makes
Teen Take and Make-Ceramic Tile Art

Decorate tiles that can be used as coasters or art pieces. Participants will need their own supply of rubbing alcohol. Supplies can be picked up at the Kings Park and Smithtown Buildings beginning May 2 and must be picked up before May 31. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.

S’more Cake (Zoom)
Wednesday, May 11 • 6:00-8:00pm
What’s s’more fun than baking? Combine marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate cake to put a new spin on this campfire favorite. Pick up your ingredients kit from the Smithtown or Kings Park Building on Monday, May 9 from 4:00-9:00pm or Tuesday, May 10 from 9:30am-9:00pm. The kit provides all of the ingredients except for 2 sticks of butter for the buttercream. We will meet on Zoom to make the cake together. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. Registration required. Login information for Zoom will be sent to the email address associated with your Library card the day before the event.

Star Wars Celebration Volunteers
K-Wednesday, May 4 • 4:00-5:00pm
Help kids celebrate "Star Wars Day" with a craft and a team-style trivia tournament. Everyone can participate in a Star Wars-themed raffle. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating.
 
Craft Buddies Volunteers
K-Monday, May 9 • 4:00-5:00pm
Spend an afternoon paired with a younger child for some craft projects. We will be using art materials; please dress appropriately. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.
 
Battle of the Books
K-Monday, May 16 • 4:15-5:00pm
Are you a teen entering grades 6-9? Do you like trivia and reading? Have you ever heard of Battle of the Books and wondered what the fuss is all about? At this informational meeting, we will release the eight titles featured in this year's competition and discuss the ins and outs of what Battle is all about. Weekly meetings will begin in June to prepare for the final battle on Saturday, August 13.
 
Paint a Planter
