Kings Park Building Teen Programs

  Registration requirements for all programs are listed in the description of each program. Teen Services programs are open to those in grades 6-12 (up to age 18) unless otherwise noted.
Registration for December programs begins on Monday, November 8

December Programs 

Take and Makes 
Teen Take and Make-Winter Votives
Kings Park Building
Decorate a seasonal votive using tissue paper and glue. Kits will be available at the Kings Park Building beginning December 1 and must be picked up by December 30. In person or telephone registration required. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis.
 
Virtual
Mini Hot Chocolate Cookie Cups
Wednesday, December 15 • 7:00-8:00pm
Join the Baking Coach as we use marshmallows, candy canes and more to create miniature cups of hot chocolate. Pick up your ingredients kit from the Smithtown or Kings Park Building on Monday, December 13 from 4:00-9:00pm or Tuesday, December 14 from 9:30am-9:00pm. We will meet on Zoom to make the cupcakes together. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. Registration required. Login information for Zoom will be sent to the email address associated with your Library card the day before the event.
 
Winter Marshmallow Snowman Cupcakes
Wednesday, December 29 • 6:00-7:00pm
Grab a cup of hot cocoa and join the Baking Coach on Zoom to make delicious marshmallow cupcakes. Pick up your ingredients kit from the Smithtown or Kings Park Building on Tuesday, December 28 from 9:30am-9:00pm or Wednesday, December 29 from 9:30am until the time of the program. We will meet on Zoom to make the cupcakes together. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies. Registration required. Junior LEGO® Buddies Volunteers
K-Thursday, December 9 • 4:00-5:00pm
Be paired with a younger child and help him/her with a LEGO® creation. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.
 
Melting Snowman Sugar Cookies
K-Saturday, December 11 • 2:30-3:30pm
Celebrate the season and make delicious snowman-themed sugar cookies. This program may not be suitable to those with food allergies.
 
Bookmark Volunteers
K-Thursday, December 16 • 4:00-5:00pm
Teen volunteers are needed to design and make bookmarks. Bookmarks will be sent to patrons who are enjoying The Smithtown Library's Homebound Mail Service. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating
 
Science Buddies Volunteers
K-Wednesday, December 29 • 1:00-2:00pm
Join this innovative program which pairs teens and children together to work with simple but awesome projects that explore science, technology, engineering and math. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.
 
New Year’s Eve Pre Party
K-Thursday, December 30 • 3:00-4:00pm
Get ready for 2022 at the Library. We will make crafts and decorations that will help you kick off the New Year in style.


November Programs

Take and Bake-Batman Sugar Cookies
All Buildings
You don’t need the Bat-Signal to see how awesome these cookies are! Kits will be available at any Smithtown Library Building beginning October 18. In person or telephone registration only. Please inform staff which building you would like to pick up your supplies at time of registration. Supplies are available on a first come, first served basis. This program may not be suitable for those with food allergies.

Toys for Shelter Cats
K-Wednesday, November 3 • 7:00-8:00pm
Make cat toys that will be donated to local shelters. Your feline furrends will love them! Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating.
 
Comic Book Art
K-Thursday, November 4 • 7:00-8:00pm
Pow! Kaboom! Wham! Be part of the action with these comic book crafts. Wear your favorite superhero gear.
 
Game Buddies Volunteers
K-Thursday, November 4 • 4:00-5:00pm
Play fun board games with a younger child. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating.
 
Craft Buddies Volunteers
K-Tuesday, November 16 • 4:00-5:00pm
Spend an afternoon paired with a younger child for some craft projects. We will be using art materials. Dress to make a mess. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.
 
Mason Jar Leaf Lantern
K-Wednesday, November 17 • 7:00-8:00pm
Create your own fall inspired lantern that’s perfect for any cozy room.
 
Book Buddies Volunteers
K-Monday, November 22 • 4:15-5:15pm
Read to a younger book buddy. It is a rewarding experience that you won't want to miss. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.
 
Kindness Cards Volunteers
K-Tuesday, November 30 • 4:00-5:00pm
Help brighten someone's day by volunteering to hand make greeting cards for people in your community. Each teen will receive one hour of community service.
